HOT Fair and Rodeo gives $49,000 in scholarships to area students

CENTRAL TEXAS, TX (KXXV) - The Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo held a banquet Thursday night to award 32 scholarships to Central Texas students.

Former Dallas Cowboy Jay Novacek spoke at the Scholar Recognition Banquet, underwritten by Bailey Insurance & Risk Management, where $49,000 in scholarships were awarded to students in Bosqueville, China Spring, Crawford, Groesbeck, Lorena, Mart, McGregor, Mexia, Midway, Moody, Robinson, Rogers, Texas Christian Academy, University, Waco and West.

Matthew Stephens, from Bosqueville High School, was the top recipient, and got a $5,500 scholarship. $5,000 total was also awarded to students at the 4-H Youth Development Foundation Awards Ceremony in College Station earlier this month.

According to a release from the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo, they have committed more than $2 million to the youth of Central Texas.
