McLennan GOP selects JP candidates

MCLENNAN COUNTY - Sources told News Channel 25 Thursday evening the McLennan County Republican Party has picked some of its candidates for realigned Justice of the Peace positions.

Former executive director of the McLennan County Abstinence Project Dianne Hensley will be the party candidate for Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 and current JP "Pete" Peterson will run in Precinct 2.

Constable Walt Strickland will run for that position again.

Long-time judge David Pareya of West is circulating a petition to keep the Precinct 3 spot as an independent candidate, but he had to gather 400 signatures by a Thursday evening deadline. He will have a Republican opponent for that spot. Pareya did not return a phone call asking about the status of that petition.
