Fort Hood soldier sentenced for trying to sell stolen C-4

A Fort Hood soldier has been sentenced to 10 months in jail and a fine after he pleaded guilty to trying to sell C-4 that he stole after a field exercise on Fort Hood.

Tyler Glen Patrick was sentenced to 10 months incarceration, followed by 3 years of supervised release, as well as a $1,000 fine. The sentence came down Wednesday, June 25 after he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of stolen explosives on April 3.

According to the criminal complaint, federal authorities arrested Patrick in Copperas Cove after he tried to sell one-fourth of a pound block of C-4 explosive. The C-4 had been stolen following a field exercise on Fort Hood.

Patrick faced up to ten years in federal prison along with a $250,000 fine.

The FBI investigated this case together with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division.
