TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) - Police have arrested a 33-year-old man accused of stealing a motorcycle from a Temple home Wednesday morning.

Joseph Carroll Copeland has been charged with felony theft over $1,500, but less than $20,000, criminal trespass, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers were called out to the 1700 block of N. General Bruce Dr. about a suspicious person. The person who contacted police told responding officers that a man was on their property and they wanted officers to get him off their property.

Officers were later told the man had taken a motorcycle and was pushing it down the road. Officers found the motorcycle abandoned, and the suspect had reportedly fled to nearby railroad property.

Officers searched the area and found Copeland. He was initially arrested for trespassing, then investigators reviewed the case with the District Attorney's Office and added the charge for theft over $1,500.
