Man seriously injured after early morning shooting in Temple

TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) - A 24-year-old man was transported to a local hospital with a serious injury, after a shooting early Wednesday morning in Temple.

Temple officers responded to a reported shooting in the 900 block of S. 22nd St., at 12: 19 a.m. Wednesday. A responding officer found someone inside a home giving first aid to a 24-year-old man who was shot somewhere in the upper body. He was transported to Scott & White. No condition is available for the man at this time, but police say his injury was described as serious.

Police's investigation showed the shooting happened outside of a home, and the shooter may have known the victim. Police say nothing was taken, so robbery does not look like the motive at this time. The shooter fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction following the shooting.

The only description police gave for the suspect is that he is a black man who was wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt during the shooting.

Detectives with the Temple Police Department’s General Investigation Unit are coordinating the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Temple Police Department General Investigations Unit at (254) 298-5500.
