Former Killeen city councilman petitions to end "no knock" warrants

KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) - Former Killeen City Councilman Larry Cole has petitioned to end "no knock" warrants by police.

Cole e-mailed each city member asking for an investigation of those kinds of raids. This comes after Detective Charles "Chuck" Dinwiddie was killed serving a warrant, the 2nd Killeen officer killed in the line of duty in less than a year.

Cole says that is proof that "no knocks" are too much of a risk. "It's too dangerous, and I think evidence shows it's too dangerous."

Cole says there are others ways to serve warrants. Cole sent suggestions to change the current warrant policy to the council months before Dinwiddie was killed.
