WACO, TX (KXXV) - Police have arrested a 37-year-old man who made things worse for himself by allegedly threatening an officer after stealing his girlfriend's cell phone.

Brad Eugene Taylor faces charges of obstruction or retaliation and a 2nd degree felony charge of robbery. His bond has been set at $25,000 total for the charges.

Sgt. Patrick Swanton with Waco PD says the incident occurred May 2, and started with a call from an apartment in the 1100 block of Delano. The victim told officers that her boyfriend, Taylor, had come to her house. He was angry and was accusing her of having someone there.

He is accused of entering the apartment, then grabbing her cell phone. Police say he injured her arm while taking the phone, which made it a robbery.

The situation became more serious when officers called the victim's phone to speak with him. Taylor is accused of getting belligerent with the officers, cursing at them, and threatening the officers. He allegedly told the officers that he was gang connected and he, "had something for the officer," indicating that he would harm them.

Officers obtained a warrant for Taylor for robbery and retaliation and he was picked up over the weekend.
