Two teens arrested for stealing lawn equipment from area home

MCGREGOR, TX (KXXV) - Two teens have been arrested after stealing lawn equipment from a McGregor home, and police say they tried to pawn the stolen equipment.

Orlando Martinez Jaimes, 18, and Alexis Alonzo Cruz, 19, both face a charge of theft over $1,500, but under $20,000. Jaimes has also been charged with possession of marijuana after police found a bag of weed on him while he was being arrested.

McGregor Detective Joe Coy says the theft occurred at a McGregor home, the week of May 25. Jaimes and Cruz are accused of stealing lawn equipment from the home, including a weed eater and generator. Police say they tried to pawn off the equipment at a local pawn shop later that day.

Jaimes was arrested Wednesday night when officers saw him walking in the 600 block of S. Adams. Cruz was arrested at a different location without incident.
