UPDATE: The Bell County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case from Bell County Sheriff Investigators on Friday, June 6. Karl Lee Wiggins, 61, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the shooting of Edward Charles Hermann, 41.

This shooting was the reason officers were called out to the 2800 block of Spur 2410 on May 4. Officers shot Wiggins after they say he refused to drop his gun and pointed it at responding officers, after he allegedly shot Hermann.

Wiggins' bond has been set at $100,000. He is in custody at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Two people were rushed to the hospital after officers shot a shooting suspect who pointed his gun at officers Wednesday night near Belton.

A police spokesperson said officers were called out just after 9 p.m., to a home in the 2800 block of Spur 2410 on the edge of town, on reports of a person being shot. Once police arrived, a person from inside the home did not drop his gun and turn toward officers, who then opened fire, and shot the suspect in defense.

Police found another man inside with a gunshot wound and they believe he was shot by the man who pointed his gun at officers. The initial shooting victim is in critical condition.

No officers were hurt, but it's believed the other wounded person taken to the hospital was the subject of the initial police call. The officers have been put on leave as the Texas Rangers and DA's office investigate this shooting.

The suspected shooter, the man who was shot by police, is in stable condition.

Police say charges are pending for the shooter, for the confrontation and shooting with officers.
