Temple names new fire chief

Posted:
TEMPLE - The City of Temple names its new fire chief and he comes from Missouri.

Joplin Fire Chief Mitch Randles has accepted an offer to become the next fire chief for Temple. He fills the position vacated by former fire chief Lonzo Wallace, who retired in late 2013.

Randles served as Joplin's fire chief since October 2010. He led the search and rescue effort following the May 22, 2011 Joplin tornado. He also directed the design and construction of three fire stations, two of which were destroyed by the tornado.

Randles will take over as chief on August 4.
