UPDATE: Man involved in Waco wreck found with gunshot wound identified

WACO, TX (KXXV) - UPDATE: Police have identified the man involved in the crash with a shooting on May 25 as 54-year-old Daniel Earl Whittley of Waco.

Police have no updates on his condition and the investigation is still ongoing.



Waco police are investigating a wreck and shooting from Sunday night, that appear to be related.

Sgt. Patrick Swanton with Waco PD says the wreck happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday, at 17th and Waco Dr. Police were called out to a wreck, in which a Mitsubishi Gallant collided with a Chevy HHR.

The HHR rolled several times, but they were not seriously injured. The HHR was also hit by a third vehicle that fled the scene.

Police say the driver of the Gallant was not found at the scene of the wreck, but eventually turned up at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the lower torso. Witnesses told police they had heard shots fired.

The driver of the Gallant was taken directly into surgery. His condition is not available as of Monday morning.
