Man dies after Bryan shooting

A man dies in the hospital after getting shot just south of downtown Bryan Saturday night.

It happened just before 9:00 p.m. on the 1300 block of Groesbeck Street. Police responded to a shooting and found a 24 year old man with a gunshot wound. Jose Guardado was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Guardado later died in the hospital from his injuries.

50 year old Joe Luis Becerra is accused of shooting Guardado. Police say the two know each other. Becerra fled on foot before officers got to the scene according to police. Officers found him a short time later and arrested him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Bryan police spokesperson Kelley McKethan says the charges have not been upgraded but the District Attorney's Office will review them.
