Couple arrested on drug charges after their car runs out of gas

Posted:
LORENA - A couple from San Saba, who ran out of gas in Lorena, now find themselves in the McLennan County Jail on several drug charges.

Joey Huizar, 34, and Kimberly Raiford, 29, have both been charged with manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance, less than 200 grams, and possession of a controlled substance, less than 28 grams.

Lorena Police Chief Tom Dixon says his officers got a call about a possible accident on I-35 at the 322 mile marker in Lorena, a little after 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Police and fire units responded to find the car stopped, and apparently out of gas. A man and woman were spotted sitting out in a field nearby. As officers were talking with the couple, a K9 got a hit on the woman's purse, leading to a search of the purse.

Over 28 grams of methamphetamines were found, along with some hydrocodone, and other medications. Two meth pipes, a marijuana pipe and other evidence was also recovered during the search.

Police also found that Huizar was wanted out of Brown County on drug and burglary charges.
