WACO, TX (KXXV) - A 33-year-old Waco woman has been arrested on three separate charges of forgery in connection with the cashing of large checks written on business accounts.

Monique Michelle Lewis faces three counts of forgery and has been booked into the McLennan County Jail Wednesday morning, after being picked up by Waco police.

Sgt. Patrick Swanton with Waco PD, says police developed the case on May 9, when they got a call from a bank about a check Lewis has tried to cash.

Police say the checks had been presented at two different check cashing businesses and one bank. The checks ranged from $1,715 to over $4,000.
