Pursuit involving woman going into diabetic shock ends near Hearne

HEARNE, TX (KXXV) - A woman who reportedly was going into diabetic shock was transported to a hospital in Bryan after being involved in a police pursuit Tuesday night.

DPS says Bryan PD got a call at 8 p.m. Tuesday night about a reckless driver near Highway 21 and Highway 6 in Bryan. The driver was going the wrong way in southbound lanes on Highway 6.

Bryan PD attempted to stop the vehicle, including setting up spikes near the city limits. The female driver went around the spikes and continued north.

DPS troopers got involved between Bryan and Hearne, and at one point were able to spike all four of her tires. The driver continued driving on the rims into Hearne, where the vehicle finally stopped. DPS reports the driver refused to come out of the vehicle.

Bryan PD SWAT team was summoned and she finally came out when it was determined she was going into diabetic shock. She was then taken to St. Joseph's in Bryan.
