An 8-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was hit by a truck while riding his bicycle in Killeen Monday evening.

Officers responded to a crash in the 4200 block of Cessnock Dr. in Killeen, just after 6 p.m. on Monday, May 19. Witnesses told responding officers that the boy was riding his bicycle south on Nessy Dr., on the eastside of the road, and didn't stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Nessy Dr. and Cessnock Dr.

The child continued riding his bike into oncoming traffic on Cessnock Dr. The driver of a black, Ford pickup tried to stop, but was unable to stop before hitting the boy.
