Police catch man fleeing scene of Waco store break-in, recover stolen items

WACO, TX (KXXV) - A 32-year-old Waco man is behind bars in connection with a Sunday morning break-in a Waco Family Dollar store.

Robert Dwayne Kelly faces a charge of burglary of a building for the break-in at the Family Dollar store in the 2300 block of Franklin. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.

Police report the break-in occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday morning, with the glass from a front window being smashed in. A police officer drove up as a man carrying several packages was fleeing the scene.

The officer took him into custody, recovering clothing and a set of automotive battery jumper cables. The officer noted that the man had cut his arm on the broken glass while breaking in to the store.
