Bell County standoff ends with no injuries

BELL COUNTY - A standoff has ended after a woman who held deputies at bay since mid-morning on Saturday gave up about 9 p.m. and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Bell County Sheriff's Department spokesman Donnie Adams says deputies were called to the 4200 block of Sherwood Loop on a shots fired call. The area is a development west of Belton, near Stillhouse Hollow Lake.

When deputies arrived, they found a woman who had been firing shots in the air, and who barricaded herself in an outbuilding on the property about 10 a.m. and refused to come out.

Adams says she had a gun tied to her hand, but shortly after 9 p.m., following lengthy negotiations, she untied the weapon and came out peacefully. It was not immediately known what caused this incident.
