Family displaced by Temple house fire

TEMPLE - A Temple family is making temporary living arrangements after a fire started in their attic Thursday afternoon.

Temple Fire & Rescue responded to a fire in the 1300 block of North 13th Street at 3:21 p.m. on May 1. First responders reported heavy smoke coming from the eaves of a house. The residents were not at the home.

Firefighters went into the home, removed a section of ceiling and put out the attic fire. The blaze has been ruled as an electrical fire and unintentional. Fire crews say the fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damage. Firefighters credit a neighbor with limiting damage after quickly calling 911 to report the fire.

The last unit left the scene at 4:42 p.m. Temple police, Scott & White EMS, and Oncor Electric also responded to the fire.
