GROESBECK - A 32-year-old Jasper man has been airlifted to Hillcrest in Waco after police say he was shot during an attempted home burglary Tuesday afternoon.

Groesbeck Police Chief Jeri Almy says the incident happened about 12:22 p.m., when the resident of a home on FM 2489 spotted a man coming out of his house. The house is just barely in the southern city limits of Groesbeck.

Police say the resident fired one shot from a small caliber rifle, hitting the would be burglar in the leg. The wound is not believed to be life threatening. The man was then airlifted to Hillcrest, where officials say he is now in good condition.

Authorities have identified the suspected burglar as Clint Craft. He has been released from Hillcrest and transported to jail.

The incident is still under investigation.
