Former Ft. Hood soldier sentenced for producing child pornography

WACO - A 41-year-old former Fort Hood soldier has been sentenced to 340 months in federal prison for producing child pornography.

A federal judge in Waco also ruled Gary Allen Burgess must pay $80,000 in restitution to his victim. Burgess pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography on June 3, 2013.

He was arrested in 2012, after authorities searched his home on post, and found illegal pictures. Authorities found approximately 80 "sexually explicit" pictures involving a child under the age of 12. He remained in federal custody since his arrest.

Burgess' wife, Caroline, was sentenced to two years in prison on a plea deal, after trying to get the victim to recant allegations of sex abuse.
