ROBINSON - A 27-year-old woman has been arrested by Robinson police after a syringe containing what police say was methamphetamine residue, was found within reach of a 5-year-old child in a car.

Amanda Kay McKeown has been charged with abandoning/endangering a child following a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.

Robinson Police Lt. Tracy O'Connor says the car was stopped about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 9th, in the 800 block of North Robinson Dr. The officer was going to inform the driver, later identified as McKeown, that her tail light was out.

According to police, the officer noticed McKeown was not wearing a seatbelt, and a 5-year-old girl in the car was also not restrained. Then the officer spotted the syringe within reach of the child.

Police say the child was released to the custody of a grandparent and CPS was contacted.
