Three arrested in string of Brookshire burglaries

MCGREGOR - Three suspected serial robbers are now behind bars after an intense overnight standoff with local law enforcement. The men were caught after robbing a Brookshire grocery store early Sunday morning in McGregor.

Police say these Brookshire bandits may be responsible for a string of break-ins of several of the grocery chain stores in the North and Central Texas area over the past few months, including the one in Lorena.

Clinton David Chambers, Christopher Lee Chambers and Shawn Allan Tucker were arrested early Sunday morning after McGregor police got a call from Brookshire security about a burglary in progress.

Two of the burglars tried to escape out a back door, but ran and hid inside when police arrived. McGregor and Crawford police, along with the McLennan County Sheriff's Office and a Hewitt PD Crime Scene Unit surrounded the store.

Police say the two men then tried to escape again from the ceiling, where they were able to get in. But after an hours long standoff with authorities, two of the men eventually gave up.

Tucker was arrested hours later walking along Highway 84. He later confessed to being the lookout.

This is an ongoing investigation and police say they’re trying to find who dropped the men off at the store in the first place.
