Area man accused of stealing cattle from employer and selling them at auction

MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX (KXXV) - A McLennan County man has been arrested after police say he stole nine head of cattle, and then sold them at a local auction.

Colby Wayne Tennison has been charged with theft of livestock following an investigation by the Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

Tennison is accused of stealing four head of cattle from his employer, a McLennan County rancher, then later stealing five more head of cattle. The cattle were taken from a place between Elm Mott and West.

The stolen cattle were sold at a West auction barn, for a total of $8,400.

Police say some of the money was used to buy a 4-wheeler, which investigators have seized. Tennison gave the rest of the money to his girlfriend to keep, and investigators have seized that money as well.
