Belton man dies of injuries from 4-wheeler accident

A 35-year-old Belton man has died of injuries sustained when the four-wheeler he was driving crashed on a rural Bell County road just before midnight Thursday night.

DPS reports the accident occurred in an "S" curve on Fort Stockton Rd., southwest of Moody, just inside the McLennan County line.

Investigating troopers say the operator, identified as Scott Curtis Smith, of Belton, failed to negotiate a curve, then went off the road and struck a fence.

Smith was transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple, where he was later pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Duffield.
