Woman arrested for taking car from local skate park

WACO - Tips from Waco residents helped police identify and arrest a woman accused of stealing a van that was found abandoned the next day.

Deanna Marie Rios was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and was also named in arrest warrants from Baylor PD for robbery, and evading arrest with a motor vehicle.

Waco police say the incident occurred when a woman took her kids to Skateworld, located on Town Oakes Drive in Waco, back on Feb. 6. While she was paying for her kids to get in the skate park, she laid her keys down on the counter and forgot to get them.

Rios is accused of picking up the keys when she came up to the counter. Police say she found which vehicle they belonged to, and then drove off in the 2005 Honda Odyssey van.

Police found the van abandoned in the 300 block of Lottie Ave. the next day.

Police posted video from the counter surveillance camera at Skateworld on their Facebook page, and soon got tips that led them to Rios.
