Man who fled from traffic stop in Freestone County caught

Brandon Michael Cole Brandon Michael Cole
FREESTONE COUNTY, TX (KXXV) - UPDATE: Brandon Cole was caught by Freestone County Sheriff's Office Wednesday morning while walking down a road. He was found where authorities had been looking on Tuesday.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are searching Freestone County for a 29-year-old man who fled from a DPS trooper who tried to pull him over.

Troopers attempted to stop a green Chevy Tahoe on FM 833, but the driver, who police have identified as Brandon Michael Cole, fled and wrecked out near County Road 131. Cole then fled on foot, into a wooded area.

A search began with assistance from the Freestone and Navarro County Sheriff's Offices, and dogs from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. DPS also used a helicopter in the search.

Authorities determined that Cole had gotten away by Tuesday afternoon, perhaps being picked up somewhere by a friend. A warrant for evading arrest in a motor vehicle is being sought for Cole.

DPS spokesman DL Wilson says there are also previous traffic warrants out for Cole.
