A 30-year-old man has been arrested and a child has been found safe after a Friday morning shooting and kidnapping at a Temple apartment complex.

Vincent Alonzo Corson is now behind bars following a shooting that sent his wife to the hospital with serious injuries.

After an amber alert was issued for the couple's 2-year-old son, Isaiah, Dallas Police located the vehicle Corson had stolen from his wife, and that's when an arrest was made.

Just before 7 a.m. Friday morning, police say Corson went to the Greenbrier Apartments on 13th St. in Temple, even thought he has a protective order placed against him by his wife.

Police say an argument broke out between the two, and that's when Corson shot her three times in the arm and hip. She was holding their son, Isaiah, at the time she was shot. Corson then grabbed Isaiah and fled. When police arrived, they found the victim in a back bedroom.

Then, just before 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, Temple PD received a call from Dallas PD that Corson had been arrested and Isaiah had been found safe.

"The Bell County D.A.'s office did a great job getting an aggravated assault warrant, mostly while we were still at the scene, which was very beneficial having that warrant," Temple Police Lieutenant Edward Best said. "It probably, and my guess 100 percent, is that it will be enhanced to a higher degree."

Corson has a criminal history in Bell County including domestic violence charges against his wife. Police believe spousal and parental issues were behind Friday's shooting. It's still unclear why Corson fled to Dallas. Police don't believe he had any family ties in the area.

The victim is recovering from surgery at Scott & White Hospital, where officials expect her to be okay. 2-year-old Isaiah is in CPS custody.

Corson will be extradited back to Temple in the coming days.
