Man taken to hospital following Killeen shooting

KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) - A man has been rushed to the hospital after being shot outside a convenience store on Gilmer Ave., in Killeen, Friday afternoon.

Police say it is possible that this shooting could be linked to another shooting that happened Wednesday night on Wyoming Ave.

According to police, about 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, the victim was in the parking lot of the Handy Stop Grocery Store, when he was approached by a man carrying a gun.

The victim then began running from the gunman and was shot once. The shooter then fled the area. The man who was shot was then transported to the Darnall Army Medical Center and was said to be in stable condition.

Police are still searching for the suspect. They say he is a black man, between 5'8" and 5'10" and weighs 150-160 pounds. He was also said to be wearing a blue and black t-shirt and blue jeans.

Police ask anyone with information about this shooting to call Crime Stoppers.
