Man indicted for reported kidnapping turned officer involved shooting incident

Posted:
WACO - A McLennan County Grand Jury has indicted a man on charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, for an incident back in December, when authorities responded to a reported kidnapping that turned into an officer involved shooting.

The grand jury returned a three count indictment on charges of aggravated assault against a public servant for Mike Joseph Alvarado.

McLennan County Sheriff's Lt. Johnny Spillman was shot in the leg after responding to a report of a kidnapping suspect, later identified as Alvarado. Alvarado was also wounded in the incident.

The woman involved in the reported kidnapping, Caitlin McNamara, has since said she was not kidnapped, but had gone with Alvarado willingly. The kidnapping charges were dropped against Alvarado, but on Wednesday, a grand jury indicted him on aggravated assault against a public servant charges.
