GATESVILLE, TX (KXXV) - Police have arrested a man accused of strangling his girlfriend and then running away from officers as they tried to take him into custody.

Jacob Robert Frazho faces assault charges, interference with an emergency call, and evading and resisting arrest for an incident in Gatesville.

Gatesville Police Chief Nathan Gohlke says officers received a call about a disturbance in the 1500 block of Waco St. in Gatesville, about 3:35 p.m. Sunday afternoon, March 2.

Officers arrived on the scene and found a woman who said she had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The victim told police that the man, later identified as Frazho, put his hand around her neck, strangled her, then slammed her into the floor.

Frazho is accused of breaking the victim's cellphone to prevent her from calling police, then fleeing the scene.

Officers later found Frazho at another home on Waco St. and tried to take him into custody. Frazho fled on foot, and was eventually caught by pursuing officers in the 1900 block of St. Louis St. in Gatesville. Police say he initially fought with officers, but was taken into custody. He remains in the McLennan County Jail.

Frazho was arrested back in February 2013, accused of attacking his cousin with a belt buckle.
