Belton ISD Approves Bond Refunds

The Belton ISD board of trustees has approved an over $9.5 million refund on school bonds passed back in 2006.

The bonds were originally passed to build an elementary and swim center in Belton. The money was also used to buy land for future campuses and update existing ones.

After doing yearly refinancing, the board was able to get the interest rate down to make way for those refunds.

"Belton ISD appreciates the support we've had with our community and our voters, and we hope to continue to be good stewards of your tax dollars and happy to be able to refinance and save money this year," Belton ISD deputy superintendent Eric Haugeberg.

Since 2010, Belton ISD has saved taxpayers over $5 million in bond refunds.
