Bell County Health District issues Norovirus alert

BELL COUNTY - The Bell County Health District issued a Norovirus alert on Tuesday.

They have seen a spike in emergency room visits for symptoms, like vomiting and diarrhea, main symptoms of the virus.

The Health District uses a system to monitor peaks in particular symptoms in hospital rooms. Within the past couple of weeks, several long-term facilities have reported outbreaks.

Other symptoms include nausea, headaches, fever and chills.

Norovirus is extremely infectious.

The virus can last for one or two days.

The best way to prevent the virus is to wash your hands.
