WACO - UPDATE: Police have identified the man suspected of pulling up alongside another vehicle and shooting a man multiple times Sunday night in Waco.

Derrick Rashard Caver was arrested in Hillsboro after he fled the scene of the shooting. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and his bond has been set at $150,000.

The victim was shot multiple times, but managed to drive to the Dollar General on 17th street and call 911 for help. Hillsboro Police were looking for the shooter earlier Sunday night after he fled the scene and he was spotted in the city.

The shooting happened in Waco around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Investigators say the victim was driving westbound on Waco Drive, when a black GMC Envoy pulled up alongside of him and fired multiple shots at his car near 9th Street. The victim was shot twice in the back.

Though injured, the victim continued to travel down Waco Drive, before pulling into the parking lot of the Dollar General, where he called for help. Police say he was in bad shape when they arrived.

Waco Police Sgt. Chip Weiser says the victim named the shooter.

"He had two shots in the back... He started going into shock as we were talking to him," says Sgt. Weiser. "We got his information and who he believes the suspect may be."

The victim was rushed to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and his condition is still unknown at this time.

No one else was hurt in the shooting. Police say Caver and the victim apparently knew each other, but how they knew each other is not yet clear.

We will continue to bring you the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
