SALADO - UPDATE: Marcos Rene Garcia, a Salado coach accused of having improper relations with a student, has been booked into the Bell County Jail on Wednesday. His bond was set at $35,000 and authorities say he is expected to be released soon on bond.

A Salado Independent School District coach and math teacher resigned in light of accusations of having improper relations with a student Thursday.

Marcos Garcia resigned after a parent of a 16-year-old girl reported inappropriate relations between the teacher and their child.

After learning of the behavior, Salado ISD Superintendent, Michael Novotny, contacted the Salado Police Department and the Child Protective Services.

In a letter Novotny wrote to parents, he said "We are reviewing our existing processes and procedures for reinforcing our staff's knowledge abut policies, laws, and ethics."

"We will be putting together a professional learning activity in the near future to remind staff members about their obligations in this area, including the use (or misuse) of social media, text messages, Facebook, Twitter and other resources."

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
