Another post office has drop boxes broken into

LAMPASAS - Lampasas police are trying to figure out who broke into and possibly stole mail from drop boxes at the Lampasas Post Office. Police do not know if this is related to a similar crime at the post office in January.

An officer responded to the Lampasas Post Office at 1700 East 4th St., where the mail drop boxes had been forced open.

Police investigated the incident and say the mail from the drop boxes was picked by the post office at 4:45 p.m. Monday afternoon. Police believe the break-in occurred Tuesday morning, sometime between 5 a.m. and 5:40 a.m.

Residents should contact police if they mailed anything with personal information at this post office drop box between 4:45 p.m. Monday night and 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, for further information about possible identity theft.

Anyone who feels they are a victim of this or has any information about this case, should call the Lampasas Police Department at (512) 556-3644.

Two drop boxes at the Lampasas Post Office were burglarized in late January as well.
