WACO, TX (KXXV) - A 21-year-old woman and 28-year-old man have been arrested after they were named in warrants for injury to a child.

Carol Ann Matthews was arrested at her home at 10 a.m. Sunday morning and she has been charged with injury to a child. Matthews also faces charges for warrants for no driver's license and no insurance.

Brian Munger was picked up by Sheriff's Deputies on the warrant for injury to a child.

According to Sgt. Patrick Swanton with Waco PD, this case involved a CPS referral. Information came in Dec. 28 about a young child with injuries, including bruising, which CPS designated in the referral as, "beyond discipline."

The police investigation showed an unknown object may have been used to spank the child, which resulted in the injuries. CPS removed the child from the home.
