TEMPLE - Temple police responded to a report of a man on the roof of Harper Talasek Funeral Home, just after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police arrived on the scene to find 26-year-old Benjamin Chason on the roof of the building near air conditioner units.

Officers checked Chason and found a small amount of marijuana in his possession. They also found a set of bolt cutters on the roof of the funeral home.

Officers discovered that pieces of copper piping had been cut from various air conditioner units.

Chason has been booked into the Bell County Jail and has been charged with criminal trespassing and possession of marijuana. A case is being prepared for criminal mischief over $1,500. It will be presented to the Bell County District Attorney's Office on Wednesday.
