WACO, TX (KXXV) -
A 23-year-old man has been arrested for running from police after an officer tried to stop him for driving through a stop sign without stopping.
Omar D'Sanders Ellison faces several charges, including evading arrest with a vehicle, evading arrest on foot and resisting arrest. His bond has been set at $75,000 total for all charges.
According to police, an officer was driving in the 2200 block of Gorman about 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, when he saw a Ford Mustang drive through a stop sign without stopping.
The officers turned on his lights in an attempt to stop the driver. The driver then fled, but only drove about 100 feet, before hitting a parked Chevy Lumina.
The driver then fled on foot after his car was disabled. Officers chased after him and caught him at 21st and Morrow Ave. After being caught, police say he fought with officers, until they deployed a Taser.
Ellison was taken to a hospital to have blood drawn for an alcohol test, then transported to jail.
