UPDATE: Baylor campus declared safe after police investigate shots fired call

WACO, TX (KXXV) - All is clear on Baylor's campus after a gunshot scare Saturday evening.

At approximately 8:23 p.m., the Baylor Police Department was alerted by the Waco Police Department that a caller had heard what may have been gun shots in the area of 8th Street and Bagby Avenue.

A Baylor police officer was patrolling in the area at the time and also heard sounds that may have been shots.

The officer immediately began searching for evidence and was quickly joined by other officers from the Baylor Police Department and the Waco Police Department.

After canvassing the area, officers found no evidence to substantiate that a firearm had been discharged.

From the investigation, it appears that at no time was there any threat to the Baylor campus or the areas immediately around it.
