Waco PD seize $35,000 worth of crystal meth, one man arrested

WACO, TX (KXXV) - Police have arrested a 51-year-old man after finding 288 grams, about 10 ounces, of crystal meth in his possession. Police say about $35,000 worth of meth was seized.

Gilbert Mike Melendez has been charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth) with the intent to deliver. A federal hold has been placed on Melendez.

Melendez was arrested after an investigation led to a search warrant of him home in the 3500 block of Leland. The warrant was served at Melendez's home at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

During the search, police also found weighing scales, packaging, and a semi-automatic handgun.

Melendez was seen driving and stopped by members of the Waco PD Swat Unit. He was taken into custody without incident.
