KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) - A 29-year-old Killeen woman has been arrested after police say she bit an officer and fought with police after they were called out to a disturbance call at a Killeen hotel on Sunday.

Jessica Nicole Route has been charged with assault of a public servant, resisting arrest and two separate charges of possession of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $160,000 total for the charges.

Police say officers were called to a hotel in the 600 block of South W.S. Young Dr. on Sunday because of a disturbance in a room.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a man in the room, who was not being cooperative, when a woman in the room, later identified as Route, bit one of the officers and began fighting with them.

She ended up being taken into custody for assault of a public servant and resisting arrest. The two charges for possession of a controlled substance were added after police recovered materials from the room.

She was initially held in a holding cell at the Killeen Police Station, and booked into the Bell County Jail on Wednesday.
