Killeen Police investigate fatal car crash

KILLEEN - The Killeen Department Traffic Unit is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred late Sunday night.

Killeen police responded to a call from a witness who saw a crash involving a truck in the 6900 block of E. Rancier about 11:40 p.m. Sunday night.

The 23-year-old man driving a green GMC Sonoma pickup was ejected from the driver's seat after overcorrecting and flipping multiple times.

The driver was airlifted to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in critical condition. He was admitted to the intensive care unit, where he later died of his injuries. Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield pronounced him dead at 2:33 a.m. Monday morning.

The accident is still under investigation, and more information will be released in the future. Authorities have not released the name of the man involved in the fatal crash.
