WACO - A 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday after a short chase with the U.S. Marshal Task Force on a warrant for illegal re-entry.

Juan Mario Arredondo faces charges of evading arrest with a vehicle and resisting arrest for the pursuit on Thursday. He was wanted on an illegal re-entry warrant from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is being held on an immigration detainer.

Arredondo was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon after a brief pursuit by the U.S. Marshal Task Force on a warrant for illegal re-entry from ICE.

ICE requested warrant assistance for Arredondo because of his past violent criminal history. Police say he fled from U.S. Marshals near the 3100 block of East Edmond. Arredondo almost immediately crashed. He then fled on foot and was chased down by Marshals.
