Temple Police make another copper theft arrest

TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) - Temple police have arrested a 52-year-old Belton man accused of stealing copper from an area theater.

Monday morning about 3 a.m., a suspect identified as Kenneth Villow Craighill, was spotted by a patrol officer in a suspicious vehicle and was arrested in connection with the Copperas Cove copper robbery.

The van was spotted in the parking lot of the historical Arcadia Theater in Temple, Texas, with the headlights on.

The officer saw a strap connecting the van to a segment of copper wire fastened to the building. Similar copper wiring was found inside the vehicle.

An officer approached the van and took the occupants into custody. Craighill admitted in the post-arrest interview that he was involved in the copper theft. He was charged with theft of metal, a state jail felony.

The investigation of the case is still ongoing.
