Man found guilty of capital murder, sentenced to life without parole

Posted:
BELL COUNTY - A Bell County jury has found Darrell Parker guilty of killing his mother and stepfather in January 2013 in Bell County. Parker received an automatic life sentence without possibility of parole.

The jury deliberated a short time Wednesday before finding Darrell Parker guilty of capital murder. Parker is only facing one count of capital murder to try and expedite the trial.

The death penalty was not sought against Parker, so there was no punishment phase. The sentence was an automatic life sentence without possibility of parole.

Jury selection began Monday morning and the capital murder trial started Tuesday morning with opening statements. Both sides rested on Tuesday after only one day of testimony.

Cathy and Chuck Youngblood were found dead in their home between Troy and Moody. Bell County Deputies went to the home on Willow Grove Rd. on a welfare check and found them inside.

Deputies tracked down the couple's missing 2003 Chevy Blazer and arrested Parker.
