Killeen and Temple to open warming centers

BELL COUNTY, TX (KXXV) - Warming Centers in Killeen and Temple will be open Monday through Wednesday to give homeless or distressed people a temporary warming place from the anticipated cold weather.

The Killeen Community Center, located at 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd., will be open as a warming shelter from 5 p.m. Monday night to noon Wednesday. You can call 501-8889 for more information.

The Temple Office of Emergency Management activated the Emergency Warming Center Plan because of data from the National Weather Service on predicted cold weather and wind chill factor.

Victory Ministries, located at 305 South 15th, and Transformation Station, located at 503 East Central Ave., are the two Warming Center locations that will be available for men in Temple. Resources are available for a warming place for woman and children if the need arises.

The warming centers in Temple will be open Monday through Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Information on Temple warming centers is available by contacting 2-1-1.
