Winter Weather hits Central Texas, Fort Hood closed

CENTRAL TEXAS - We had a wintry mix of sleet and snow throughout Thursday evening.

This wintry mix is tapering off across Central Texas Friday morning, but it is still cold with temperatures in the 20s.

If you are driving this morning, be very cautious. Driving conditions are hazardous this morning in several locations, especially in our southern counties. Friday afternoon the sun will make its way in and highs will be near 40°.

Traffic on I-35 is moving very slowly Friday morning.

Fort Hood has closed on Friday due to the weather. Only mission essential should report for duty. You can call the IOC at 287-2520 if you have any questions.

The HOP, Central Texas' Regional Public Transit System, is canceling all service Friday because of the weather.

There are still Winter Storm Warnings for Brazos County and Burleson County, as well as Winter Weather Advisories for Burnet County and Williamson County.
