TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) -
Warming Centers in Temple will be open Thursday and Friday to give homeless or distressed people a temporary warming place from the anticipated cold weather.
The Temple Office of Emergency Management activated the Emergency Warming Center Plan. The decision came from data from the National Weather Service on predicted cold weather and wind chill factor.
Victory Ministries, located at 305 South 15th, and Transformation Station, located at 503 East Central Ave., and the two Warming Center locations that will be available for men in Temple. Resources are available for a warming place for woman and children if the need arises.
The warming centers will be open Thursday, Jan. 23 and Friday, Jan 24. from 5 p.m. until 9 a.m.
Warming Centers in Temple provide a place to bring people that would normally be out in the elements on an extremely cold evening indoors during the coldest hours of the night. Warming Centers province a warm area for refuge, water, blankets, toilet facilities and limited hygiene items.
