Central Texas Radio Personality Gaylon Christie Dies

A local legend in country music, Gaylon Christie, died Wednesday at Scott & White hospital in Temple.

Christie, of Nolanville, was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in Nashville last year along with singer George Strait and a host of others.

The former DJ broke into the radio business as a 17-year old in Temple and spent 50 years behind the mike, also owning his own station, KOOV, until he retired in 2001.
A popular long-time morning radio personality for years, Gaylon Christie was 77.
